Intro to Quilling In-Person
Intro to Quilling with Natalie Ann Gardner
Quilling is decorative craftwork in which a material such as glass, fabric, or paper is formed into small bands or rolls that form the basis of a design. It’s a very old art form hailing from the Middle Ages and is experiencing a resurgent interest. This class will involve making a card and a small frameable piece. The project is designed to be simple enough for beginners, but enough to allow participants to further explore the medium. All tools and materials will be provided for the attendees.
Gardner brings an understanding of color and form to her quilled pieces. Each one is different and often has a subtle sense of humor in a caterpillar or snail crawling outside the frame. A love and respect of the natural world is expressed in most of her work. She has been quilling for over 10 years, and her work is mostly at Maine Cabin Masters in Manchester and Monkitree in Gardiner. Teaching and holding exhibits locally, she is also an accomplished potter and watercolorist.
